Acrylic on Arches Watercolour Paper
28cm x 40cm (A3)

The ‘Little John’ Bottlebrush is a ground cover plant, unlike it’s relative the Weeping Bottlebrush, and can grow up to around 1m x 1m. It holds nectar and pollen - perfect for honey bees, bugs and birds. Drought resistant, flood resistant, loves to flower and show off in Spring and Autumn.

I noticed when i was sketching it en-plein-air, the bees were very friendly and let me get real close.. They did however give other bees space, in that if one bee was in a flowering head, another bee would not go in, hence only 1 bee in the picture.

I wanted to give the impression of pollen dispersing, adding an enchanting feel.
