After painting the seeds and flowers individually in separate paintings, it was time to put them altogether in a larger piece. Learning about the Corkwood tree has been enlightening. The leaves can be toxic at large amounts and the indigenous took advantage of this by spiking off stream water holes where game would drink at. The sedative feeling of the leaves slowed down the animals so they could be easily hunted.
The flowers of the tree are a treat for honey eaters such as sugar ants and birds. Best to leave them on the tree to keep the ecosystem going. They wilt at an incredible pace after removing them from the tree.
Now that I’ve explored a few features of the tree, It’s probably time to explore the bark and the tree as a whole within the landscape.
