Spinifex is such a prominent part of the landscape on the outskirts of Alice Springs. The more remote you are, the more there is. From afar, the spinifex looks soft and inviting, but up close, it's spikes will definitely keep you away! I decided to use cooler tones in the piece to emphasise on the cooler mornings. This painting was a study for a much larger work to come.
