This was the first work to kickstart my buffel busting exhibition. I came across this native specie after a good friend and tutor Henry Smith had rallied up the local landcare and myself to help him ‘de-buffel’ a hill near his home. He had worked on this hill for over 2 years, trying to ensure the buffel hadn’t destroyed the native flora and to simply make it look nice and natural again, free from invasive species. I was so inspired by his efforts, I decided to start a project on it. This painting was the first of my journey.
