This work is inspired by the sign erected at the base of sacred site, and what most Alice Springians know it as, Mt.Gillen. It is also a continuation of the signs i’ve continued to paint since my Buffel Busting exhibition in 2019.
The fiery landscape and overuse of signage is meant to parallel each other, making comment on both the positive and negative impacts of the 2. I’ve left one sign unfinished in the painting for someone to make a comment on what they’re passionate about.
